Each year the Miniature Book Society hosts an annual gathering of its members referred to as a Conclave. The Conclave — typically a three-day event — is held every autumn in a different city and is eagerly anticipated by the members. Recent Conclaves have been held in Princeton, NewJersey, San Diego, Seattle, Ann Arbor, Michigan, New Orleans, Dublin, Ireland, and Amsterdam. Attendees look forward to guest speakers, tours, workshops, book auctions, a book swap and an all-day book fair, but most of all, connecting with fellow miniature book enthusiasts and the camaraderie that miniature book lovers share.
MBS Conclave XXXVI
Friday, August 10 – Monday, August 13, 2018
With a theme reminiscent of Thomas Jefferson: “I cannot live without miniature books,” the 2018 Conclave will celebrate history, nearby Monticello, The McGehee Miniature Book Collection at the University of Virginia, the beauty of artistic covers, the production of miniature books and future miniature book collectors. Highlights of the Conclave will include a tour of Monticello, a stay at the Omni Hotel, free time to stroll the adjacent historic downtown shopping and dining district, a visit to the UVA Library and optional trips to Washington D.C. and Williamsburg, plus a tour of local wineries.
