Prairie Vision: A View From The Heartland

Prairie Vision: A View From The Heartland was Cedar Creek Press's first miniature book, published in 2002. The text has been selected from the journals of A.W.G. Morse, an early settler in Iowa, and one of the founders of the town or Morse, Iowa, just a buggy ride from Iowa City. Excerpts selected include those dealing with the death of Lincoln, life and memory of  times gone, everyday events from a time when the country was at war with itself, 1864-65.
One hundred copies were published, some bound in paper wrappers and some with half cloth hardcovers. The cover papers were made from corn fiber – suitable covers for the work of an Iowa farmer. The typeface used is Linotype Baskerville, set by Henry in hot metal. The book measures 2"x2.8", and was printed on a 120 year-old platen press.
The paper-bound edition is priced at $20.00 and the hardcover at $30.00 and is available directly from the publisher.
